Aggressive Climate Action

Load shedding has had a negative impact on the economy of Zambia in addition to the disruption of normal everyday life. This has led to a reliance on charcoal and other wood fuels thereby negatively affecting the already fragile environment. Studies have identified charcoal production as one of the main drivers of deforestation and forest degradation in Zambia. The traditional methods of making charcoal lead to high carbon emissions and are a waste of wood resources.

Solar energy is a renewable, carbon-free resource available in every geographic region of Zambia, with enormous potential to reduce our nation’s GHG emissions.
